Reflections ( Week 1 - Week 7 )
Reflections ( Week 1 - Week 7 )
KRD - The second part of KRD is pretty intriguing. Dr. Tazli gave us a lot of sophisticated and highly challenging projects and take home test to us. It was a whole new world for us as we had a high weightage for the second test and it needed a lot of our hardwork to sit and do lots of research in order to design a high order thinking question. And I also want to stress on how Dr. Tazli teaches us, he focuses more on what we take back home then jus merely finishing the syllabus. He focuses more on the output. I sincerely hope that I can score in this subject as I have spent day and night not only studying this subject but also on doing the projects and take home test.
CPDIC – In this second part of CPDIC we focused more on feedback and feedforward control, the frequency response analysis and how we can judge wheter a system is stable or not. Later in this subject I tend to understand and it all comes together in a bigger picture on how a control process is. I also like the way Madam Haslinda is very strict about our level of understanding and she frequently pushes us to do lots of examples in class. This helps me focus more and understand better in class.
PSLP – The second part of PSLP is mainly focusing on fire and explosion, HAZOP and safety procedure. By learning this chapters im more interested in becoming a safety engineer, I might even major in safety in my final year. I understand on how to handle any unpredictable mishaps and at the same time I also learnt that there are so many things that go wrong. For example, the temperature in the reactor rise that effect the set point , the engineer need to open the valve to allow cooling water enter the reactor.
Reflection on 2nd project
In the second project my role was mainly as a recorder. I carried out various task such as proposing the suitable technology and also the best way to approach the project. I also came up with interesting ideas and moderated the communication between team members. I learned a lot on how to use HYSYS and to do our own survey and review on few researches and try to analyse to find a way to apply to this project. Moreover this project has helped us understand better in kinetics reactors design. The most difficult task for me was to find sufficient informations and extract them and to modify them such that it fulfils our objectives. Through this I have adapted many skilss and knowledge that I strongly believe will be very significant in the future when I do my Final Year Project. I really hope that I did a god job and made my team mates proud.
- KRD: This course to me was a big deal because I heard rumors from seniors about how tough this course is, but yet I still had a positive mindset approaching it. Nonetheless I was also happy that Dr.Suzana was teaching because to me she is very straightforward and accurate. For the first three chapters so far things have been going smoothly. I believe with a lot of exercises and studying I would be able to master this course.
- CPDIC: I'm having a lot of difficulties grabbing the concept of this subject, to me personally I would say this course is one of the most hardest I have taken throughout my degree studies here in UTP. A lot of previous subjects like ODE and Mass Transfer is being applied again, how I wish I had still remember some of the basic Laplace Transform. But I'm working very hard on this subject and currently seeking the help of my tutor Sean as well.
- PSLP: As much as it sounds easy, it really isn’t. This subject requires a lot of formula and changing of units ( which I hate). But to be honest among all three courses I would say this is the easiest. Exercises in class is helping me to understand better. I believe this subject is pivotal to Engineers so that history doesn’t repeat itself.

reflection on 'smart as engineers'
- 'Smart As Engineers'
- Questions posed for KRD
- Questions posed for CPDIC
- Questions posed for PSLP
Suggestion To Gain Interest
KRD - Do more exercises in class and less group works and projects that take up alot of our time.
CPDIC - Take home tests and more examples to solve in class after completing each chapter.
PSLP - More group orinetated projects and field trips
