Personal Reflection of the coursesWeek 1-5 Kinetic & Reactor Design: Since my foundation studies here, the seniors always say that KRD is one of the most important subjects in Chemical Engineering. So, I am excited to learn this subject. Since Dr. Suzana has taught me before, I can easily get fit into her class. So far for this past few weeks of semester, I still can catch up with this subject. Chemical Process Dynamics, Instrumentation &Control: CPDIC is the subject I like the most among the three subjects but I do not know why. The topics that have been covered for this first five weeks is not that easy. The earlier topics are easy to understand. Besides, I learn again the Laplace Transform in CPDIC. So, it is not hard for me to understand about it. Process Safety & Loss Prevention: For this course, before the semester started, I thought it would be something like HSE course. But then I realized it is far different than HSE. In this first five weeks of semester, I learn about toxicology, industrial hygiene and also source model. Before this, I thought there were no studies about all this matter. So, this course has really given me a new perspective about engineering fields especially for chemical engineering. Week 6-13 Kinetic & Reactor Design From my point of view, KRD is a quite tough subject. But I think it’s a very important subject that I need to learn in becoming a chemical engineer. For the second part of the semester with Dr. Tazli, I did lose my focus a little bit. Maybe because of the way of the lecture and also Hari Raya Holiday kind of distract me a little bit from watching the videos he posted. For me, the videos are a little bit boring because they only show the slides as I am more attracted to watch something moving (a person or animation). Chemical Process Dynamics, Instrumentation & Control After the hard times in the first half of the semester, I think the second half of the course is easier. For the second half, I learnt about feedback control system, stability analysis, dynamics behaviour of closed-loop system, frequency response analysis and also instrumentation. I like what I learnt on the second half of the course more than the first half. Even though the lecturer talk a little bit fast for me, but she is a very nice and like the way she give the lectures. Process Safety & Loss Prevention Process Safety & Loss Prevention is a very fun and interactive subject. I like the way the class is conducted, where we will have an exercise on the topic that we learnt in the lecture. All the topics we learnt are interesting and I don’t find any trouble in understanding them. |
personal reflection of the 'smart as engineers'Designing this board game is really a new thing to me. It never came across in my mind to design a board game because I rarely play a board game. At first, my group members and I don't have any idea how to start designing the board game. Then we started to do research on board games. After that, we know that there are actually a lot of types of board games. Therefore, this project do give something new for us to learn and also to explore more about board games as all of our members don't really interested to play board game. SUGGESTIONS TO GAIN INTEREST IN THE COURSES:
Kinetic & Reactor Design: From my point of view, the lectures are good enough. My only concern is that I think for the tutorial, the tutor should interact more with the students and the answers to the tutorial questions should be given after the tutorial so that we can refer to them. Chemical Process Dynamics Instrumentation & Control: For this subject maybe we should be exposed to a real life situation on how all of what we learn works. For example, how the feedback and feedforward control systems work. Process Safety & Loss Prevention: To gain more interest from the students, maybe a visit to a process plant would be useful. |
